Default Question about bans in the game

Anyone ever been banned and had their bane reversed?

Please tell story. Because as it stands anybody can be reported for whatever reason and eventually you'll get the ban notice....

As far as providing a story of being unbanned, sorry, I can't help you there, however I think it's prudent to point this out;

You don't get banned for being reported, all the reporting does is flag that time index of that district to look for suspicious activity from the reported person. If the admin looking into it determines that whatever action was taking place is worthy of a ban, then they will ban you. Otherwise I assume they ignore it. And if someone abuses the report feature it actually reflects badly on them.

and on that note they'll actually only ban u if its something seriously violating the EULA(account selling, botting, things of that nature)

If you were reported for spamming or minor verbal abuse you'll most likely only get a slap on the wrist, 3 day suspension or something along those lines.

Been banned four times here. Too tired to get into details, but my reactions are like thus:
1st ban: WTF ANet! Lame ass!
2nd ban: Um, okay
3rd ban: lol
4th ban: lol

Guildie recently got banned for armbrace duping.

Funny thing being he has never owned anything above 20k and has no elite armors or anything of any special mention.

He emailed and Anet discovered they'd got the logs completely wrong and perma-banned the wrong person, he got his ban lifted within a week.

I lol'd.

No one here can help, all you can do is email support and work it out with them.

I explored the forum alittle and found out the cause of my ban, apparently it was that DoA bug, i admit i went in once with 2 other guys and the rest heros but didnt complete it and that was like 1 week ago, after that i never went back, whats more i didnt know it was illegal, i asked how is this possible , they just said its normal , whats more if you think it this way like once you done DoA at least once you can enter there without the 4 lords as the lords are "dead" in your storyline actually so is mallyx but lets put mallyx aside. So if they are "dead" you cant go back and kill them can u ? whats even more surprizing was Anet even put a Enter Mission Button for you to click on. The worst part is that those who didnt knew it was a bug was ban? call me stupid if you like but i just didnt know it was a bug. What Anet is doing now is the same as the judge sentencing a 90 year old grandma to death as she was holding drugs but was told it was some painkiller. isnt it the samething?

I was recently permanently banned for that same bug. I had no idea it was considered an exploit, and no third party programs were involved, just a few friends took me there and we did Mallyx...now I am perma-banned, and support says I have no chance of getting my account back....I've been with Guild Wars for 2+ years, paid for all 4 expansions, yet.....I just got RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed.

yup, if you wanna get banned, just play the game and be loyal for 2+ years, they'll ban you then.

Nice huh

You broke the rules when you used that exploit (or knowingly were in a group in which someone used it). Blame yourself.

Don't talk about the recent exploit in this thread, please.

get us a place to talk about it then, i believe there are many people which was ban without knowing it was a bug(dumb people like me,no offence) believe it or not there are. if it was a short ban due to investigations i understand but its written THIS IS A PERMANENT BAN. People who doesnt how drugs look like and was sentence to death because he/she was holding one its the same thing like i said before.Still hoping for a positive answer from NCsoft.

Hahahaha... You didn't realize that teleporting to a non-existant outpost in the middle of an elite area was an exploit? Yeah right.

Come on. You guys knowingly cheated, and you got found out and received just punishment.

Actually I'd be interested in hearing more about how it was done. I'm guessing this was a temporary outpost, used for beta-testing the quest line, which someone forgot to remove/seal before the game went live? If so, ANet should really look in to which of their employees leaked the information about it rather than do the right thing and inform his supervisor.
